New Book

I'm thinking of writing a book entitled Bird Butts and I think I may have gotten my cover shot today!
No, really - If you have never tried to get a photo of a towhee, you really can't appreciate what a great shot this really is. They are constantly moving - so this is the absolute best towhee picture I have ever taken. If you've managed to get this great of a shot of a towhee from another angle, my hat is off to you!

I have a similar rear picture of a redtail hawk... from a bird show, not in the wild!

All of your bird pictures are wonderful. Do you use a tripod?

I have 2 tripods. One is the fabulous Gorilla tripod given to me by my photographer nephew. However, I have never managed to position a tripod for bird photography. Those suckers move too fast and are quite unpredictable. I hold the camera as still as I can and hope for the best. The tripods are great when you can set up a shot - of buildings or humans - that are more predictable.

Yhank you for your comments! Happy Summer!

My humans aren't very predictable, either. :-)

Excellent point - save your tripod money for gas. :)
