The Face of a Genius
In the aftermath of the ongoing struggle of rodent vs. PhD, with PhD consistently being way behind rodent, I have decided to adopt Albert (Einstein, get it?) this Mother's Day. My Killer Guard Dog and I discussed it and he agrees. He's looking forward to a rodent sibling with this kind of intellect.
I have spent plenty of money over the years to feed and enjoy the wildlife in my back yard. Albert here came along last year and has changed everything. Not only does he enjoy eating the food, he also enjoys deconstructing the feeders and then finally just eating them. You will see him in the Albert section of my blog if you click on his category. (He ate two of those acorn feeders...)
This photo shows my Albert today with his new steel feeder that the Wild Bird Center told me he could not eat - lifetime guarantee against squirrel damage. It even used to have a handy easy-open bottom for fast, easy clean-up. None of us expected how quickly Albert would learn to enjoy the handy easy-open bottom. Of course, when he opened the bottom, the nuts went to the ground and there was joy in Squirrelville! And once he did it, the easy-open feature had to go. So Tim, Mr. Wild Bird Center, added a bolt and screws that he thinks Albert cannot deconstruct. That was mighty nice of Tim, but my bet's on Albert!
Stay tuned! Since he's my second son, I'm mighty proud!

One Month From Today
OK - I need to tie my feet to the floor.....ONE MONTH FROM TODAY is it! This cartoon sort of goes along with it...I retire and gas costs more than I make - crazy! I guess I will get lots of gardening, bird-watching, reading, and photography done! Also, I'm mostly looking forward to lots of time with family and friends. Tea, anyone?

The Indigos Are Back!
What a splendid surprise today when I saw my first indigo bunting of the year! I dashed off to get the camera and started snapping. As I was looking through the view finder, another flew up - then the third. I could hardly stand it! What a great day! (Click on the picture to see a larger version.)

The Tree
While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands.
When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation. . His face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss.
Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.
"Oh, that's my trouble tree," he replied "I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, those troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and the children.. So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home and ask God to take care of them. Then in the morning I pick them up again." "Funny thing is," he smiled," when I come out in the morning to pick 'em up, there aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before."
God Bless!
We all need a Tree!

It's about learning to dance

The Easter Bunny
He weighs in at 17 pounds and measures a little over17 inches high on all fours .. he is a breed of rabbit called German giant (how appropriate!). This is his owner, Hans Wagner, struggling to hold him up. from the NY Post article: We don't feed him an unusual diet said Wagner. He goes through more than his brothers and sisters, but he eats the same food mix. His favorite food is actually lettuce. He can never get enough of it. LOOK AT THOSE FEET!
April Fools????? Snopes says it's true......Love it myself - much better than politics and that other stuff I was meandering into!
